Geographical location of Peshtera Municipality
Peshtera municipality (17,472 ha) is located in the Western Rhodope part of the Osogovo-Rhodope zone. It includes parts of the Bessapar, Karkar and Batash hills, between which the valley of the Stara reka and its tributaries is cut. The town of Peshtera (450 m above sea level) is located in the foothills, on the border with the Upper Thracian lowland.
Along the gorge of the "Stara Reka" river passes the road that connects the municipality to the east with the villages of Byaga, Isperihovo, Novo Selo and the city of Plovdiv, to the southeast with the city of Bratsigovo, and to the west with the cities of Batak, Velingrad and Dospat and the "Batak" dams.
